Review The Last Horror Movie

To Julian Richards
von Sebastian

I do not understand how people could have liked that movie. All the people in the crowd where really into that movie, but it was completely boring. Yes Julian, it was boring.

What was so special about it? Having a serial killer film his victims, we had that in "15 minutes", a video tape that can kill you, we saw that in "Ringu" and "The Ring". So all that is left is the monologue. Before the movie you said you wanted to make something new: "...see what a serial killer would have to say in a documentary about himself". The problem is your serial killer is completely boring. He does not kill for a higher purpose, like John Doe in Se7en or Mr. Bathroomfloor in the supercool movie SAW (now that is a good movie), but he just kills for the sake of it. He doesn’t even know why he does it, so he has to ask people if they understand it. I don’t think there is any meaning in his deeds. He’s just bored with his stupid life, the loser, black sheep character that he is.

I would have loved to see/hear a monologue by John Doe or a Hannibal Lecter, somebody who is more intelligent than the average person, and thought about what he’s doing beforehand. Not some "T-rex"-"stomach person" that kills out of boredom. Coming to think of it, I already heard an intelligent serial killer monologue (actually I was reading it); my old yuppie friend, super villain and super stylish rolemodel Mr. Patrick Bateman had some intelligent things to say about this sick world.

PS: When I asked you if you would use the same video cover as shown in the movie, and you said "no", because of the experience you made at the festival, ... BIG MINUS for you, Sir. Wanna make the big bucks or good movies? If I was you, I would stick to the old plan, time and word of mouth will eventually make "the right people" watch it.
