von Alan Smithee
I guess I should’ve known. I saw Argento’s Phantom of the Opera and wasn’t too impressed. Here? Well, the acting is lousy, the lines are worse, what makes the whole thing a little irritating is that everybody speaks English altho’ the setting is just SO Italian - totally threw me off. It was bloody, yes, the body count was reasonably high, the psychopath not too twisted, the twist in the end not twisted either. What made it worse, the film and actors took themselves seriously. A tongue-in-cheek approach would have made it more bearable. I was disappointed, almost a little bored. Seems like I wasn’t the only one as most of the audience boo-ed at the end of the movie
